hey all!!

I know this is extremely late - and I'm so sorry - but better late than never, right?

So the culinary challenge this month is {insert drum roll}...

~~~ Lebanese ~~~
Hope you are as excited as we are!  If not, we can change it!
Let me know when will work best for everyone.  We are open {so far, anyway!} to times, but probably better sooner than later in the month?  Let me know what days and times work best for you.  Friday or Saturday evenings are probably best for us {maybe the 23rd or 24th} - but we are open.
Scottie and I could make the 23rd or 24th work. We are flexible too!
Hope you are all having a great week.
Unless I find out otherwise, I think the 24th would be the best.
Can I call dibs on hors devours? I have this amazing meat/feta/veggie/herb in lil baked pastries that I want to make...
Yum...that sounds good!
I think there might be a few small hors devours dishes - I LOVE stuffed grape leaves and falafels, etc. I'm so excited!!!
Any recommendations for a side dish?? I'm up for whatever you have tried and love.. the 24th is better for us!
I would agree on the 24th! Should we plan on then? I will make whatever too.
The 24th it is!!! Elisa is the only one that has claimed a dish - so pretty much everything is open.
These are a few of my favorites if you'd like some options {but feel free to do whatever sounds good to you}:
If someone wants to take on the dips {baba ghanouj, hummus, and tahini sauce} with flat bread, that is always an option.
Anything with lentils {I've got a few soup recipes that are delicious}
Shawarma {I think I might make this - it is basically like a gyro}
Shish taouk {basically a kebab with lots of incredible spices}
Any kind of meat stuffed pastry
Falafels are a classic...
Or anything cooked in yogurt...
And if none of that sounds good - we can choose a different cuisine :) Let me know!!
I would love to make a soup. Linzi can I have one of your recipes? So I guess I have side dish.
I'm going to attempt the Falafel! Wish me luck! What time are we planning on for Sat?
I think I am going to attempt a dessert since no one has claimed that yet. I am thinking of making Lebanese orange cookies. Hope that sounds ok.
What time on Sat?
So I changed my mind. I am going to make a salad. The resident Justin is working with is from Lebanon and she gave him a recipe for a very traditional salad. I thought I should make it since she called her mom to get it specifically for us. Also, since Justin told her we were doing this she really wants to come. I don't know if she is serious, but would it be okay if we brought a Lebanese with us?
Sounds great to me!! Sweet that you have a completely traditional recipe, too!! And oh no...she'll be able to critique us. haha...pressure's on!!
I'm going to hit up the middle eastern market tomorrow. Does anyone need anything?
And I don't know about time with the kids? Do we usually do 6 or 6:30? Whatever works best for you guys!
